Established in 2021 by a visionary group of students from four international schools on Jeju Island, the Hwarang Jeju Chapter has blossomed into a thriving community of 25 passionate members. From the outset, our mission has been clear: to serve with purpose, foster meaningful cultural exchange, and nurture the next generation of ethical and capable global leaders.
Residing on a UNESCO-designated island of rare ecological beauty instills in us a profound sense of stewardship. Central to our chapter’s efforts is the protection of Jeju’s marine ecosystem, most notably, advocating for the survival and recognition of the endangered Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins. These initiatives go beyond environmentalism; they represent a call to cultivate compassion, responsibility, and civic action among youth.
In addition to our environmental work, we actively engage in philanthropic campaigns that reach both our local neighborhoods and global communities. Through these projects, members are given the chance to lead with empathy, develop critical skills, and witness firsthand the power of collective service.
As we look ahead to the 2025–26 term, we are more determined than ever to share the cultural and ecological heritage of Jeju with the world. We also aim to expand our commitment to coexistence by collaborating with local traditions, such as honoring the legacy of the Haenyeo, Jeju’s women divers, and promoting a more inclusive, sustainable future. In every endeavor, our guiding belief remains the same: that service, when rooted in purpose and identity, can transform both the individual and the world around them.
